My husband got me to the emergency room and the doctors said it was an aneurysm. They decided to clip my aneurysm, it not only saved my life but it saved the life of my baby. I am extremely scared that I could have another aneurysm.”

Dr. Oz said one in fifty people have an aneurysm, before this show is over on of those aneurysms will rupture. It happens every 18 minutes.

Dr. Oz What Is An Aneurysm

Dr. Carolyn Brockington explains what an aneurysm is; “If you look at the arteries, a tube, it’s really a weakened area of the artery, over time as the pressure builds that part of the blood vessel bulges out and creates almost like a balloon and we know as balloons get big they can rupture. In this case the balloon is filled with blood so now the blood is all over the place, so it’s not only the aneurysm rupturing itself but it’s the blood being on the brain which is very toxic which causes a lot of nerve cells to die.”

Dr. Oz says inside the brain you got vessels, the same blood vessels you have throughout the body, a big vascular web. Inside the brain the web gets really thick and at the branch points can get really thin and get little weakness’s and get a tiny little outpouching where blood can begin to squeeze through a little crack on the side of an inner tube can get large enough and pop, and when it blasts like that the blood can spew throughout the brain and when that does happen it can cause devastating injuries for us.

#1 Headache Is Very Sudden
#2 Headache Very Severe
#3 Its a headache you have never experienced before in your life

Dr Oz asks Jennifer “How does it make you feel knowing you have a aneurysm? And there are many women that have aneurysms 2 out of 100 do, but in addition there are many who know they have the aneurysm and are still living with that.”

Jennifer; ” When i was firt diagnosed I was way more panicy then I am today, I’m hopefull that my doctors will remain to keep a close watch on it and I won’t have any problems.”

Dr. Oz asks Dr. Brockington ” How do we know if we have to treat an aneurysm or not?”

Dr. Brockington; “Well the interesting to note is that not all aneurysms require treatment so there are many factors that make us decide to treat or not. One is someone’s age, their medical history, but probably the 3 main things we look for are, we talk about aneurysms as a balloon so the bigger balloon the more likely the balloon will rupture.

Another one is the shape, we call it the morphology, so the more irregular the aneurysm is the more likely over time it will rupture.

3 is Location, depending on where the aneurysm is located. Sometimes they are very difficult to get to, sometimes to even get to it causes more problems then it actually rupturing.”

Dr. Oz Aneurysm Risk Factors

Dr Oz asks Dr. Brockington “If you were to tell someone right now what they can do to help reduce the chance to prevent this life taking, life complicating aneurysms rupturing?

Dr Brockington; ” We know the things that increase the aneurysm rupturing or 2 main things.

1. High blood pressure
2. Smoking we all know smoking can be deadly.

Dr Oz goes on to say we all know the risks from smoking but there is new research out there on smoking and aneurysms. You know that smoking can ignite the exposion of an aneurysm. It’s the number one thing that you can control to avoid an aneurysm.
