Keri Peterson from Prevention Magazine joined Dr. Oz in this segment of your most outrageous questions show and below are the 5 questions Oz asked about your underwear. Dr. Oz Has 5 questions we must answer about our underwear – what does it mean if you have yellow stains on the back of your underwear, to wearing thongs and bladder infections.
1. Does Your Underwear Have Less Elasticity Than When You Bought It? The answer should be ‘NO’. Keri said your underwear does not lie, it may mean you have gained weight if they are not as stretchy as they once were.
2. Is The Backside Of Your Underwear More Than 3 Inches Wide? The answer should be ‘YES’. Say goodbye to the thong underwear. Peterson told Dr. Oz that there are health risks involved, in particular bladder or vaginal infections. The material comes in contact with the rectum, bacteria from the rectal area can transfer onto the material and make it’s way forward toward the vaginal area in particular the urethra, women have a very short urethra so the bacteria can go up into the bladder which leads to urinary tract infections. This holds to women who wear thongs and are prone to infections.
3. Is Your Underwear Too Tight? The answer should be ‘NO’ When underwear are too tight they compress the abdomen, if you’re wearing underwear that are high and tight they can compress the stomach and cause acid to reflux into the esophagus and cause heartburn. So the next time you have heartburn, check your underwear!
4. Does Your Underwear Have Static Cling? The answer should be ‘NO’ Oz said take your underwear and fold them together and if they stick together you have static cling. Keri Peterson said when you have static cling on your underwear it can aggravate the skin. The fabric can create friction on the skin which causes irritation and itchiness and that can lead to dryness and eczema.
5. Does Your Underwear Have Any Yellow Stains On The Backside? The answer should be ‘NO’, Dr. Oz said to take your underwear and examine it carefully for yellow stains. Yellow stains on the back of your underwear could be a sign of hemorrhoids, internal hemorrhoids you won’t see them, won’t feel them but these hemorrhoids can seep mucus that can stain the underwear yellow. Once solution Keri Peterson and Dr. Oz had for hemorrhoids was a Sits bath. It can help soothe hemorrhoids and help heal them. Dr. oz said if you don’t want to use a sits bath, just sit in a bath with a little magnesiums and salts in there.
