We never leave home without it and most of us use at least once a day, and some of us use our cells for hours at a time.

Today Dr. Oz talked about cell phones and brain cancer and the 5 ways to protect yourself from your cell phone. Like everyone else we have asked ourselves is it true there is a link between cell phones and cancer?

Dr. Oz said you wouldn’t put a loaded gun to her your head but you could be doing essentially the same thing every single day without even knowing it. Over 270 Million Americans maybe playing Russian Roulette with their cell phones. More than 21,000 adults and 1500 children are diagnosed with brain tumours every year. Some of which researchers believe are caused by talking on a mobile phone. And now an explosive new study that looks at decades worth of research comes to a shocking conclusion. People who use cell phones for more than ten years are up to 30% more likely to develop brain tumours than people who rarely use their cell phones. And the cause, Scientists suspect radio frequency radiation.

Cell phones emit low levels of this form of radiation every time you use them. It may not just be your brain that may in danger, doctors are also concerned, that in the heaviest users, cell phone radiation may even increase their risk for cancer. Until recently the level of radiation from cell phones was considered safe, but these new findings are sounding an alarm you can’t ignore. Dr. Oz says the good news is you can lower your risk to exposure to radiation right now if you know what to do.

On Dr. oz today one man and his family is convinced his cell phone caused his tumour. Allen and his wife knew each other since high school, and has been married for thirty years. About 8 years ago his personality started to change drastically. A man who was always happy, loved his work, loved his family, but he started to become a little different. No one knew what was wrong, no one ever said it could be a brain tumour.

The first time he had any realization about the tumour was he had a Grand mal seizure. The doctors said they thought they got it all, but the reality is they take out what they can see said Alan. He said it feels like a death sentence because he never knows when he gets an MRI they are going to tell him it’s growing back.

Alan used to talk on his cell phone all the time. Once upon a time he figured out he talked on his cell phone about 2000 minutes a month. He also figured out that over the span of twenty years of cell phone use it added up to 10,000 hours. He always had it on the right side of his head, up against his head, and turns out the tumour was on the right side. Alan is very anxious, frustrated and angry because he does not know how long he is going to live. The telephone industry didn’t warn him, and says if they would have put out a warning label, it would have saved him from what he is going through.

Dr. Oz says there is data that shows there may be a risk between the use of cell phones and brain tumours. There are other studies that fail to show that, and people can point to those studies. Dr. Oz read of a brief comment from the Cellular Industry stating “Scientific evidence has overwhelming indicated that wireless devices do not pose a public health risk. In addition there is no known mechanism for microwave energy within the limits established by the FCC to cause any adverse health effects.

Dr. Oz says he has heard enough to rethink his cell phone use, and He and Dr. Debra Davis went over the 5 ways to help reduce the risk of radio frequency effects, and how to protect us from our cell phones.

1. Use your speaker phone, by keeping it a distance from you, you are getting at least 1000 t0 10,000 times less exposure. it doesn’t have to be that far away from your body, it is a lot of extra protection by just having it a short distance away.

2. Have a wireless set up to your ears, and avoid using a wireless setup, unless your going to remove it right after you use it, and put it away so it’s not on your body anywhere.

3. It was not recommended for young men to carry their phones in their pocket for it may reduce sperm count.

4. When carrying the phone on the hip turn it off — Women carry your phones in your purse.

5. When the signal is weak, you don’t use your phone unless it is an emergency. When the signal is weak, the more the radio frequency has to boost itself in to get into the phone, and your actually getting greater exposure with a weaker signal.
