Dr Oz says he wanted to point out that the Co Q10 is the cornerstone of Dr Weil’s Program. Dr Weil says CoQ10 is a natural product made in our bodies. It is very important for muscle cells to use oxygen, important for aerobic capacities and Coenzyme Q10 is a powerful antioxidant, there is a lot of medical evidence to support Co Q10.

Dr Weil explains that if you take a statin drug to lower cholesterol, this also blocks the synthesis of Co Q10 in the body and that may be the reason for some of the side effects we see with Statin’s like muscle pain.

Dr Weil went on to say that everyone that is put on a Statin Drug should be put on a dose of Co Q10, and many doctor’s are still not doing that.

Dr Weil says the standard recommendation now for Vitamin D is 200 mg and maybe next year we may be recommending even more and get your Vitamin D level checked. He went on to say that he would drop the vitamin C level down to 200 mg a day because research shows that the body only needs 250 mg a day. So don’t be wasting your money.

Dr Weil says the only problem with Co Q10 is that it is expensive, so you want to balance the benefits of that with the expense and he agrees with Dr Oz to taking Co Q10 in gel form, because of the question in how it is absorbed.

Take Vitamin D with a meal that has fat in it, or your body won’t be able to absorb it. So don’t take Vitamin D with a breakfast like a toasted bagel and orange juice, take your vitamin D with dinner.
