The Difference Between Being Tired And Exhaustion

Dr. Oz And Dr. Jacob Teitelbaum The Truth About Exhaustion — This segment of the Dr Oz show Dr Oz talks about mom’s who say they don’t have enough energy to make it through the day. Work, raising kids, taking care of elderly parents, financial worries. Exhaustion, unlike the past as something you just needed to deal with, is upgraded to a syndrome that is growing at an alarming rate. It affects over 200 million people worldwide, more women than men. In The U.S. experts estimate more than 20 million suffer from exhaustion. The difference between being just plain tired and exhausted — when your tired a good night sleep is all you need to feel energized again. Exhaustion is when you can’t keep your eyes no matter how many cups of coffee you have. You catch yourself nodding off at work, and no amount of sleep takes the sluggishness away. Exhaustion is a sign that your body just can’t keep up.

You cannot afford to ignore exhaustion, it can be a symptom of serious even life threatening medical issues. Weight gain, depression, diabetes, high blood pressure, even heart disease. If you are extremely exhausted your body may be warning you to wake up to a far more serious health problem says Dr. Oz.

Exhaustion Epidemic In America — Chronic Fatigue Syndrome — It is a disabling disease that was not diagnosed by doctors until recently, it affects women everyday, and very few of the ever get diagnosed. It makes you fatter and less productive and it makes you depressed.

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Signs And Symptoms

CFS Symptoms
The most commonly used diagnostic criteria and definition of CFS for research and clinical purposes were published by the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The CDC definition of CFS requires the following two criteria be fulfilled:

A new onset (not lifelong) of unexplained, persistent fatigue unrelated to exertion and not substantially relieved by rest, that causes a significant reduction in previous activity levels.
Four or more of the following symptoms that last six months or longer:

  • Impaired memory or concentration
  • Post-exertional malaise, where physical or mental exertions bring on “extreme, prolonged exhaustion and sickness”
  • Unrefreshing sleep
  • Muscle pain (myalgia)
  • Pain in multiple joints (arthralgia)
  • Headaches of a new kind or greater severity
  • Sore throat, frequent or recurring
  • Tender lymph nodes (cervical or axillary)

Other common symptoms of CFS include:

  • irritable bowel, abdominal pain, nausea, diarrhea or bloating
  • chills and night sweats
  • brain fog
  • chest pain
  • shortness of breath
  • chronic cough
  • visual disturbances (blurring, sensitivity to light, eye pain or dry eyes)
  • allergies or sensitivities to foods, alcohol, odors, chemicals, medications or noise
  • difficulty maintaining upright position (orthostatic instability, irregular heartbeat, dizziness, balance problems or fainting)
  • psychological problems (depression, irritability, mood swings, anxiety, panic attacks)
  • jaw pain
  • weight loss or gain.

The CDC specifically refers to several illnesses with symptoms resembling those of CFS: “mononucleosis, Lyme disease, lupus, multiple sclerosis, fibromyalgia, primary sleep disorders, severe obesity and major depressive disorders. Medications can also cause side effects that mimic the symptoms of CFS.”

1. Exhaustion can be due to being anemic – To treat being anemic is folic acid, Vitamin B12, the right kind of diet with spinach, broccoli, and red meat has some of the iron and nutrients you need in order to make the red blood cells that are necessary for the body. If you don’t wish to take iron supplements, Dr. Oz says to use the old cast iron skillet your grandmother used, your body will absorb the iron that leech’s out from the iron skillet.

2. Glandular-Thyroid Gland – This can be another cause of exhaustion. Thyroid conditions occur in a lot of women across the country, and they just don’t now it.

3. Dietary Issue’s – You need magnesium in your body when you aren’t eating properly. You need magnesium to help convert food to energy, and women who are deficient in magnesium actually need more oxygen, more red blood cells that carry oxygen to your body. Dr. Oz recommends you get 320 mg a day. You can get it from pumpkin seeds or spinach.

Dr Oz Cordyceps

Dr Oz got a Lady from the studio audience to allow him to put Cordyceps Extract drops on her tongue. Cordyceps is a mushroom, it’s what called an adaptogen, and it helps balance your adrenal stress handler glands, and a lot of times you find you suffer from adrenal exhaustion in a simple way. Do you get irritable when your hungry, sometimes when you get hungry, it’s like a timer goes off and says feed me know or I will kill you. With Cordyceps you get your Vitamin C and your adrenal support.

Dr Oz says he has heard a lot about Cordyceps, Dan Buettner Cures From Around The World says it comes from Tibet China and Cordyceps is the most valuable Asian medicine known. Cordyceps is a fungus, it invades catapillars. This fungus has been know to fight breast cancer, to fight different types of skin cancers, and Olympic Athletes have used it as performance enhancers. It obviously tastes terrible but you can buy Cordyceps pills. Cordycepin a compound isolated from the “Caterpillar fungus”. Some work has been published in which Cordyceps sinensis has been used to protect the bone marrow and digestive systems of mice from whole body irradiation. An experiment noted Cordyceps sinensis may protect the liver from damage. An experiment with mice noted the mushroom may have an anti-depressant effect. Researchers have noted that Cordyceps has a hypoglycemic effect and may be beneficial for people with insulin resistance.

Cordyceps Mushrooms

Cordyceps (caterpillar fungus, tochukasu) is a parasitic fungus which grows out of insects it has infected. The fungus remains essentially dormant until the caterpillar dies; the fungus then replaces the caterpillar’s body with its own material and grows its stalk upward and above-ground. The mushroom has a long history in traditional Chinese medicine as well as traditional Tibetan medicine.

Research has indicated Cordyceps may promote cellular health, have anti-depressant activity, as well as possible anti-cancer activity.

Dr Oz D Ribose

Dr. Oz recommended D Ribose for fatigue and exhaustion. A study was done by Chronic Fatigue Specialist Dr. Jacob Teitelbaum, has shown D-ribose to improve sleep, fatigue, concentration, pain and well-being in patients.

D-ribose is often marketed as a supplement for bodybuilders with a common recommended daily dose being 5 g. Some studies have found no evidence that there is a benefit, while others have found increased endurance, recovery and muscle output in healthy individuals. As a supplement, it is often referred to as Corvalen, a brand name under which it was popularized.

D-ribose has also been used to reduce fatigue in fibromyalgia (FM) and chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS). A 2006 uncontrolled pilot study suggested that D-ribose (5 g three times a day) may be effective in the treatment of FM and CFS. The authors reported that 66% of the 41 participants noted the supplement as being helpful and in improving energy, sleep, mental clarity, pain intensity, and well-being. However, due to the lack of a control group, further study is required to rule out a placebo effect.

D-ribose has been found to be effective in the management of symptoms from myoadenylate deaminase deficiency, a metabolic disorder affecting the skeletal muscles. Myoadenylate deaminase deficiency (MADD). MADD is a genetic disease present in 1-2% of those with European descent. Its symptoms include muscle pain, exercise intolerance and fatigue, treated using ribose.

Ribose is used as a natural anti-anxiety and stress relief ingredient. It is also used to control stress-related eating and drinking that has the added value of being non-sedating with potential anti-depressant properties.

Skinny Doesn’t Mean Healthy

Dawn is a Comedian, who smokes, drinks, and loves her life. Sometimes she doesn’t get home and to bed until 4:00 a.m. She says she is not the healthiest eater. Dr. oz chatted with her about her bad habits, and then threw her on the truth tube. It turns out Dawn’s Glucose level was only 69, which means she has low blood sugar levels, and her liver function study was 61, which is not normal, dawn was a bit taken back and saying she had a beat up liver. By the time Dr. oz was done talking to her and scared her straight with the help of Dr. Roisen she is going to quit smoking, which she claims will slow down the drinking. Then Dr. Oz showed her a picture of a liver that was badly damaged. I think that the clincher, if it wasn’t then I would have to say it would have been the pictures they did of her, showing her what she would look like in her sixties if she didn’t change her lifestyle.
