Dr Oz Hernia’s | What To Do About A Hernia And Why You Get Them

Today on the Dr Oz show, Dr Oz is talking about Hernia’s. Dr Oz Hernia’s What To Do About A Hernia And Why You Get Them.

Sometimes things can slip out of place and end up where they don’t belong and in this is what can happen, as you can see in this is picture what an abdominal hernia looks like.

Why You Get A Hernia

What happens with an abdominal Hernia is that you get intestinal tissue pushes their way through the wall around the intestinal tract and they make a little crack in there and they can come out. Both men and women can get abdominal hernia’s, and often times women will get a hernia in the groin area, but they will often get them where the blood vessels come through from the belly to the leg. There has to be a hole there for the blood vessels to go through, and a hernia will come through there.

These hernia’s are called Femoral Hernia’s , women are 4 times more than men are and they are very hard to find.

Dr Oz said there are a couple of risk factors that will cause Hernia’s:

Hernia Risk Factors

1. Heavy Lifting

2. Chronic Cough

3. Constipation

4. Pregnancy

What You Need To Do About A Hernia

Dr Oz says once the intestines bulge through your doctor will try to push them back down, and within 6 hours if you don’t get that thing reduced back into the intestinal tract where it has a blood supply this is what your intestinal tract will look like if it dies, if it’s been strangulated.

A strangulated femoral hernia occurs when a femoral hernia blocks blood supply to part of the bowel – the loop of bowel loses its blood supply. Strangulation can happen in all hernias, but is more common in femoral and inguinal hernias due to their narrow “necks”. Nausea, vomiting, and severe abdominal pain may occur with a strangulated hernia. This is a medical emergency. A strangulated intestine can result in necrosis (tissue death) followed by gangrene (tissue decay). This is a life-threatening condition requiring immediate surgery.

A reducible femoral hernia occurs when a femoral hernia can be pushed back into the abdomen, either spontaneously or with manipulation. This is the most common type of femoral hernia and is usually painless.
An irreducible femoral hernia occurs when a femoral hernia becomes stuck in the femoral canal. This can cause pain and a feeling of illness.
An obstructed femoral hernia occurs when a part of the intestine becomes intertwined with the hernia, causing an intestinal obstruction. The obstruction may grow and the hernia can become increasingly painful. Vomiting may also result.
