After a nation wide search, the Unhealthiest American is revealed
How to tell if you are at risk for a stroke
The Dream team of Bob Harper, Kristin Kirkpatrick, Leslie Heinburg, and Dr. Michael Roizen joined Dr. Oz And Steve for the 180 degree turn around.

Chosen from almost 8,000 submissions, Steve is an overweight smoker desperate for Dr. Oz’s help. Follow Steve’s progress by reading the advice and support from Dr. Leslie Heinberg and his nutritionist, Kristin Kirkpatrick.

Producers went through over 7500 emails from all over the country, and Dr. oz found the Unhealthiest American Steve. Dr. Oz was looking for someone who was overweight, lived a sedentary lifestyle, unhealthy, smoked, made unhealthy choices, and loved dearly by friends and family. Somebody we might know, maybe someone just like you.

Today’s Dr. Oz Show Recap The Unhealthiest American Steve is 35 years old and his family turned him in because they are afraid Steve will not see his 40th birthday. Steve’s breathing is very laboured, and he breaks out in sweats, he smokes a pack a day, and eats a lot of fast food and never exercises. Over the last few years, Steve’s weight is almost 450 pounds.

Steve knows he has put on a lot of weight and says it’s scaring him, he gets heart palpitations, he has sleep apnea, waking up in the middle of the night gasping for breath.

Dr. Oz flew Steve to New York for a battery of tests, all the while Steve thinking he was one of the finalists. He was confronted by Dr. Oz while Steve thought he was just waiting for the doctor… Dr. Oz looked him straight in the eye and said he was the Dr., and that he was chosen as The Unhealthiest American, and that he was about to get the transformation of his life. Dr. Oz told Steve that out of almost 8000 people he thought Steve needed his help the most.

Dr. Oz took Steve and threw him on the truth tube

1. Weight — 442 Lbs.
2. Glucose Blood Levels — 120, it should be under 100 – told him he was a candy bar away from being a diabetic.
3. Neck size — 22

Dr. oz went on to explain that women’s neck size should be under 16, men’s neck size under 17. If more than 16 for women and more than 17 inch neck for men will almost always cause a bit of sleep apnea, which is difficulty breathing at night. With a neck size of 22, it is putting a lot of pressure on your vocal cords and your breathing apparatus. They did a scan of Steve laying on his back and it showed how the fat was pushing up from the belly on Steve’s lungs, and the fat from the chest wall bearing down, leaving little space for his lungs.

Steve then got sent out to test his heart with a Heart Echo Test, there were extremely alarming results, after 6 minutes into the stress test they had to tell him to get off the treadmill, and stop the test. Steve’s Blood Pressure B/P — 180/105.

The Dream team of Bob Harper, Kristin Kirkpatrick, Leslie Heinburg, and Dr. Michael Roizen joined Dr. Oz And Steve for the 180 degree turn around.
