Markita joined Dr Oz today and she suffers from chronic headaches and takes pain medications twice a day, every day.

After showing Markita a demonstration on our pain and pain thresholds, he explained about taking pills we are addicted to, or they are actually changing our ability to resist the pain.

Dr Oz had three samples of medications on the table, and Markita had to put in them in three categories for high risk, moderate risk and low risk for rebound headaches.

They included prescription medication for headaches and Ibuprofen and a mixture of (acetaminophen, some type of aspirin and caffeine pills).

The lowest risk pills for rebound headaches was Ibuprofen, which works for the inflammation. Prescription medication is a moderate risk for Headaches, and the mixture of acetaminophen, some type of aspirin and caffeine pills were the highest risk for the cause of rebound headaches.

Dr Oz says we over medicate ourselves with things we think are safe like these mixture headache meds, and all of the the caffeine in particular can fuel this rebound headache. Large doses of acetaminophen can also damage your liver, but then again Ibuprofen can cause kidney issues.
