Cholesterol does not cause clogged arteries, or heart disease or even matter. Dr Sinatra & Dr Bowdens book is turning the medical community upside down. Dr Bowden said that everything the medical community believes about cholesterol is wrong. The idea that cholesterol cause heart disease is a lie. He went on to say “Eat the burger, that’s not going to be the thing that kills you, the truth is cholesterol will not harm you.”

Dr Sinatra has been studying cholesterol for 40 years and said “Most people are worried about how high their cholesterol is, the higher your cholesterol is the longer you’ll live”.

The Great Cholesterol Myth: Why Lowering Your Cholesterol Won’t Prevent Heart Disease-and the Statin-Free Plan That Will

Dr Oz: Cholesterol Mistakes

Both Dr. Sinatra & Dr Jonny Bowden said we are making two mistakes, first is believing cholesterol causes heart attacks. Dr Sinatra tells Dr Oz that cholesterol does not cause heart disease, half the people who die from heart disease do not have high cholesterol and half the people who have high cholesterol have normal hearts so something is wrong. We need cholesterol for cellular function, it makes vitamin D in the skin, it helps with cerebral vascular function, it helps with neurotransmitter function so we can think better and cholesterol lubricates the skin. Cholesterol is a vital component of our lives and protects people from infectious disease of the GI tract, of the lungs, the higher the cholesterol according to studies in Europe the longer you’re going to live.

This leads us to the question ‘Are the traditional cholesterol tests even relevant?’ Dr oz did a demonstration on the difference between LDL & HDL and how it is carried through the body and then asked Dr Sinatra “what am I missing here?”

Dr Sinatra said ” The root cause of heart disease is inflammation, the inflammation causes that plague, and what causes inflammation? It’s how much we weight, what we put into our body and sugar is the enemy. When you have sugar in your blood it creates plague, oxidative stress. That plague hits that food substance and that sugar causes all that gunk in the vessels, with create an enormous insulin response.”

Dr Oz said “This causes a problem because we have used cholesterol numbers to guide us in to giving you cholesterol lowering drugs and it turns out that Dr Sinatra and Dr Bowden argue the second cholesterol mistake is believing that statins are safe and will prolong life

Dr Sinatra: “Statins are an anti-inflammatory drug, they can thin the blood and they happen to lower cholesterol, but that’s the problem. Statins lower cholesterol, but cholesterol is not the root cause of heart disease, it’s inflammation. These statins have tremendous side effects, we have to get away from statin drugs.

Statins will work in one particular population, middle age men with coronary disease, preferable men with a low HDL. Statins have some utility, but for the general population especially women and children I don’t prescribe statins”

Dr Sinatra told Dr Oz he may have less than 1% of women in his practice on statin drugs, he has had women come to his practice, their age group being in their 30’s and 40’s asking him to take them off cholesterol lowering drugs. They were told they were going to die with high cholesterol.

Women have to be really careful about statin drugs because it can predispose you to cancer says Dr Sinatra.

Dr Bowden spoke up and said “We need cholesterol for memory, thinking, sex hormones and the idea of putting children on cholesterol lowering drugs is one one the greatest tragedies to ever happen.”

Dr Oz said that statin drugs cause diabetes, cancer, coronary calcification, memory loss, sexual disfunction, muscle pain, liver problems according to Dr Sinatra and Dr Bowden.

You can lower inflammations with anti-inflammatory foods, fish oils and certain supplements to keep your heart healthy.

Dr Oz said he finally got it right about cholesterol!

“The two of us wrote this book because we believe strongly that the public has been misinformed and in some cases directly lied to about cholesterol. We believe that a combination of faulty information, scientifically questionable studies, corporate greed, and deceptive marketing has created one of the most enduring and damaging myths in medical history: that cholesterol causes heart disease.”

Try Red Yeast Rice: Around 800 AD in China, it was found that the red yeast cultivated on rice produced healthy compounds . The compound works to reduce cholesterol production in the liver.
