Dr Oz: BBQ Ribs Makeover

For Rachael Ray’s BBQ ribs makeover recipe, first she par boils baby back ribs – In the water add 2 carrots, 1 onion, 2 stalks of celery, handful of parsley, 1 jalapeño chili, 2 garlic cloves, salt and pepper to taste. Let the ribs simmer until they are fully cooked.

Move them to the grill for a short amount of time.

BBQ Rib Sauce: 1 cup organic ketchup, 2 garlic cloves, cider vinegar, a little smokey chipolte powder 2 TBSP worchestire sauce, and swap out the brown sugar with agave nectar, just enough to sweeten. Garnish with fresh lime juice and scallions.

If doing dry ribs give them a good blast of lime juice before popping them onto the grill. Regular ribs 718 calories per serving, Rachael’s makeover barbecue ribs and sauce, 363 calories.

To make Potato Salad healthier:

Swap mayo for low fat greek yogurt
Add more vegetables along with the potatoes for more fiber (onions, peppers)
Try fruit juice or vinegar to add flavor without the fat
Grated garlic
Lemon juice
Parsley and oregano
Little Feta Cheese
