Dr. Oz Ayurvedic Diet For Vata, Pitta and Kapha
Three Doshas in Ayurveda: “Vata, Pitta, and Kapha” -these are loosely translated as Air, Fire and Earth, respectively. Most people are a combination of two doshas, but one typically predominates. The most accurate is through the detailed history and physical by an ayurvedic physician.
Tridosha Concept: Inside the body, there are three doshas which govern the phyico-chemical and physiological activities. These three doshas are Vata (from ether and air), Pitta (from fire and an aspect of water), and Kapha (from water and earth).
Each of us has all three doshas in our constitution, in unique proportions. In Ayurveda, seven dosha-predominant Prakritis are described: “Vata-predominant, Pitta-predominant, Kapha-predominant“; three dual Prakritis, where two doshas are equally, or nearly equally predominant: Vata-Pitta predominant, Pitta-Kapha predominant and Vata-Kapha predominant; and one Prakriti that has all three doshas equally prominent: Vata-Pitta-Kapha predominant.
Well I hopped around on different websites taking the Dosha test and I still can’t figure it all out. The questions on the quiz are basically the same but vary a little in description and each time I got a different evaluation. You can take the Dr. Oz Dosha Skin Type Quiz or you can do the self-Test to Learn Your Prakriti (Ayurvedic Constitution) at “Banyon Botanicals” website. In Ayurveda, seven dosha-predominant Prakritis are described: Vata-predominant, Pitta-predominant, Kapha-predominant; three dual Prakritis, where two doshas are equally, or nearly equally predominant: Vata-Pitta predominant, Pitta-Kapha predominant and Vata-Kapha predominant; and one Prakriti that has all three doshas equally prominent: Vata-Pitta-Kapha predominant.
Banyan Botanicals will even email your Prakriti proportions directly to you. Are you Vata, Pitta or Kapha?
