Oz started of this segment about why there is never a line up at the men’s washroom but there is always a line up to the women’s. Today we get some solutions! Using going to the movies as an example he started off with getting the popcorn and the soda and after the movie it’s time to go to the bathroom. Oz set up an experiment to see how many more women than men have the urge to go. Within two minutes the women’s line was out the door, but the lineup to the mens bathroom wasn’t happening.
Men were in and out of the bathroom within 60 seconds and after 15 minutes the women’s lineup had tripled.
Men and women have the same size bladders and hold the same amount of urine. So why do women go to the bathroom more than men. Or can’t seem to hold it as long as men?
There is a medical reason for the difference says Dr. Oz and it’s not the size of bladder. When your young your bladder can hold a lot of urine. As you get older, around the age 40 estrogen levels begin to flucuate, the pelvic floor gets weaker, as the muscles get weaker the nerves become hyperactive and the tiniest bit of urine begins to become a problem, and you gotta go even if your bladder isn’t full. Your bladder is more sensitive to any urine that is in there.
Dr. Oz Treat Over Active Bladder
Two solutions are:
1. Hold It In-You have to retrain your bladder. If you have to go to the bathroom and it’s only been an hour to an hour an a half since you last went to the bathroom, that’s too early said Oz. First try and get to two hours between going to the bathroom then try for 3 hours between urinations.
2. Drink Water-Sip small amounts of water throughout the day. Women get dehydrated which can lead to really irritable bladders which will make you feel you need to go to the bathroom when there really isn’t that much urine in the bladder.
Dr. Oz Black Foods You Should Be Eating
Black foods you should be eating that stops tumors right in their tracks. Dark foods get their color from an antioxidant that may lower your risk of diabetes, heart disease and even cancer.
Black Rice; Black rice has almost as many antioxidants as blueberries and it’s also high in fiber.
Black Pasta; Squid ink can stop the growth of new blood vessels, preventing the risk of cancer. So get out and get squid ink pasta, it sells for about $9 in health food stores and online.
